Sermon study guides

the good shepherd

God is faithful and always leads his people.

Sometimes we forget and struggle to follow, especially when life is hard.

Psalm 23 is a life-line to bring us back to God, as well as an anchor to keep us near. Like the season of Advent, this beloved psalm reminds us that hope is closer than we think.

closing the gap

Communication is hard! Communication is even harder when it involves family!

Jesus stepped into our world and communicated the love of God as the Word of God.  He calls us to love one another in the same way that he has loved us. This love calls for us to close the gap with others through how we relate and communicate with them. He gives us the grace to take this step as we seek to look, love and live like him as his followers.

  • sharing clear words

    Main Point:

God has communicated clearly with us through his Son so that we can know him and be known.  We, in turn, are called to communicate clearly with others.  Click HERE for study guide.

  • clear assumptions

    Main Point:

God is a God of truth; He calls us to check our assumptions and clarify expectations with one another to maintain honest relational connections in Christ. Click HERE for study guide.

now is the time!

God calls His people to wake up and take action during specific moments in time on their journey together. The apostle Paul exhorted the Christians in Rome in Romans 13 to love one another in light of the present time. He followed that up by stating that the hour has already come or has NOW come for them to wake up from their slumber and live into their identity in Christ.

The Christian life, fueled by God’s grace, requires constant prayer, action and vigilance. We can easily fall asleep and lose track of our shared calling as followers of Christ. God wakes up His people with his life-restoring grace and calls them to embrace this grace together. God provides specific moments in time when he wakes his people up and propels them forward with renewed purpose and vision.

Streams in the wilderness

Join us as we look at specific individuals in the Bible and their formational moments in the wilderness. We will be considering our current experiences and how God can meet us with His love, grace and truth in this wilderness season.  These “streams” are ways for us to receive and share the living water of Jesus in this thirsty time. We will be intentionally focusing on how engaging these streams can help us remained grounded in Christ as we consider the big questions arising in our culture and world.

  • how to use the study guides

Each study guide starts with a recap of the previous sermon’s main point along with the “stream in the wilderness” and Wilderness Challenge. The guide then includes this week’s passage and questions to lead you through it. The study guides are designed for personal use or group discussion.
